Spa Etiquette & F.A.Q.

Booking Your Appointment
Our peak hours are afternoons, evenings, and weekends. If the appointment you want falls within these hours, we encourage you to book as far in advance as possible. If you are flexible and can make a mid-week or midday appointment, we will likely be able to accommodate you on shorter notice. When you make your reservation, please mention whether you will be redeeming a gift certificate so we can advise you of any policy that may affect its use before you arrive.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel your appointment, please provide as much notice as possible. Ideally, we require 24 hours to cancel a single service, 48 hours or more to cancel a day spa package, and at least 72 hours to cancel group appointments or those booked on or near high volume holidays, such as Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day. That said, we understand that circumstances do arise in which advance cancellation is simply not possible. In these special cases, it is always preferable to cancel on short notice rather than miss your appointment without calling; even short notice gives us the opportunity to rebook a time slot or staff member.

If you fail to show up for your scheduled appointment time, the cost of the treatment may be charged against gift certificates or credit card reservations.
Cell Phones, Pagers, Etc.
An Eden Point treatment is a retreat from the demands of everyday life; as such, we request that cell phones and pagers are turned off before having the treatment.
Gratuities
Gratuities are NOT included in our prices but are greatly appreciated.
Will I receive an RMT receipt if I am paying for my massage with a gift certificate?

This modality does not require a practitioner number.  It is a certified course but does not require a degree in Massage Therapy, be sure to check your policy before you come.

I wish to leave my service provider a tip – what is the customary amount?
Any gratuity is appreciated, but people often ask how much is considered industry standard. The majority of people calculate the gratuity amount as they would in a restaurant – between 15 and 20 per cent; however, feel free to leave more or less, depending on the level of satisfaction with the service(s) received.
Are there any risks involved in having spa treatments?
Possible side effects of having body work may include delayed onset of muscle soreness similar to the sensation one would have after a vigorous workout.

Inherent in most spa treatments is the possibility of increasing circulation, which mobilizes waste products being stored in the body. This can manifest in a variety of ways. A cold that you have been fighting might be brought out, and you may experience a temporary increase in the symptoms. Usually this will result in you getting over the cold faster than if it were to run its natural course. By the same token, menstruation can be accelerated by a few days.

Any heat treatments will increase your body temperature and in some cases your blood pressure. Exfoliating treatments, because they remove dead skin cells, can leave your skin more sensitive to the sun for a few days.
